Accompaniment and Support for Elderly
and Ill Priests
Since January 2023, the Office for Pastoral Personnel (OPP) of the Catholic Church of Montreal has been
providing dedicated personal and spiritual support for priests, especially those who are elderly and ill.
Sister Natalia Vazquez, Coordinator of Human and Spiritual Support for Priests in the Archdiocese of
Montreal, with the assistance of Father François Charette, Director of the OPP, has called upon
volunteers to ensure this support for priests.
What services are offered to elderly and ill priests?
• Friendly visits to elderly and ill priests, including activities such as prayer, reading of the Scriptures,
and short walks to help combat isolation
• Hospital visits by fellow confreres
• Providing transportation and/or accompanying priests to medical appointments, ensuring a sense of
security
• Assisting with housekeeping and moving for priests who are often on their own
• Offer knowledge in specific areas, such as computer skills.
